DIY: STUD COLLAR TIPS + CHAIN

IMG_9377
hey guys! i got bored the other day at home and made this really easy DIY. Let's get started! You can use anything for this if you want to include your own pendants a thicker chain or even multiple chains, just be creative!

what you need: some chain, 2 studs, 2 coins, glue, and safety pins or ear ring backs
coin1
1. find coins that are the same size as your stud. I just used a 50 cent coin for mine.

Next, measure your chain. It should reach the second button from the top on any shirt. Mine was around 21.5 cm long.
coin2
3. Take your glue and apply a good layer to the chain. Since i used contact adhesive, i left it for 5+ minutes for it to get tacky and then applied the chain. Then, add some glue to the edges.

4.After the glue around the edge gets tacky as well, put on the stud. It might take a little adjusting with the chain, but it should fix if you leave it for a while. Also, clean up any excess glue at the edge of the coin/stud.
coin3
5. Use the glue to attach the earring backs to the back of the coin. You can trim it if it's too long, but make sure you try it on your shirt first to see if the front is long enough to be attached to the back.

BOW TUTORIAL//

IMG_5895
Hi guys! in this tutorial i'm gonna show you how to make this bow (it was the most popular choice by your response!)

first of all: you will need 2 pieces of cloth cut like this (depending on how big or small you want your bow), some pins, a needle and thread (color similar to your cloth), and a hairtie or clip which you will attach the bow to, etc.

next, take the bigger piece of cloth, turn it over to the faded side, fold it in half and sew along the side allowing a small space so you can turn it inside out.
IMG_5881

after sewing it, turn it out through the gap you didn't sew over. it will look something like this:
IMG_5883

next, use the needle and thread to stitch the gap together using small stitches.

now it will look something like this:

next, take the small piece of cloth, turn to the faded side and fold into a long rectangle. sew one line along the side where the pins are arranged. then, turn it out.
IMG_5888

now your two pieces of cloth will look like this:
IMG_5889

take the small piece of cloth and fold it across the large one to make wrinkles in the large cloth. pull the small cloth tight, and loop the hairtie onto the small cloth.
IMG_5891

pin the small cloth and sew a line across, cutting off excess cloth.

turn it over, and you will have something like this:

now your finished! good luck guys, i hope you liked this tutorial :)

photos by my sister :)

Hi guys!
sorry about wearing the same skirt twice, i'm just obsessed with the softness and how it goes with everything! I made this sweater the other day modeled after the AA mesh sweater (here) using a fabric i found a few weeks ago. My mom said i look like a polar bear, but i like it :) I'm so glad i made one because the one on the website is retailing for 88 US (!!) which is way out of my budget. Isn't it great when you find a fabric and make something that you like? it's like finding something really nice on sale! I've been obsessed with DIY's lately, it's so addictive.

Hong Kong's been getting so cold lately, which is why i decided to take these photos when the sun was out, so i wouldn't catch a cold :) How is it where you guys live?

YOUR CHOICE!

IMG_5529

Hi guys!
please comment below about whether you would like a tutorial on a velvet bow or turband?
i have been getting so many requests to do a tutorial on my velvet skirt and collar, but i'm really hesitant because i really don't have enough velvet to make another skirt and it would take a long time, as work is piling up again just before winter break. I'm trying to find a top which i can make a collar for and if i find a good one, i'll make a tutorial for that, but for now choose between the turband and bow!

skirt- DIY, jumper (minus collar)- H&M, tights- asos, shoes- my mom, bow- DIY

hi guys :)
its official: i'm obsessed with velvet! after i went fabric shopping last week and picked up two yards of it, i spent the whole weekend sewing this skirt, bow, turband and collar (mainly the skirt, which was based on the American Apparel velvet skirt). I decided at the last minute to put them all in an outfit together (except the turband haha, which i'll include in another post). A thing about velvet is that it really reminds me of Christmas, so i'm really getting into the holiday spirit! i'm actually going to Bangkok and Shanghai during the holidays (of course i'll take loads of pictures) and i can't wait! where are you guys gonna be up to this Christmas?

My amazing dad came out with me onto the roof in this unbearable heat to help me get some shots. The weather in summer is so hot here in HK, i had to take a shower once our "shoot" was over, and once i was dry i felt all gross again. That's summer heat i guess!
