Jungle Fever

wearing: baseball cap and skirt c/o Asos, tank c/o American Apparel, H&M bag, (old) Asos boots. Photos by Jessica

Going to keep this short as i'm kind of dozing off after a week of 6 am wake up calls, a.k.a. first week back to school. Separately obsessed with everything in this outfit so i figured via Aristotle that they'd be cool together. Sorry for the lack of posts recently, everything this week has been either blurry or in desperate need of coffee- i've realized after years of 'not being a coffee person' that after a while of sleep deprivation most people do in fact become coffee people- don't fight it.

Oh, and let this sideways alignment be a hint for something that will be coming soon....hah!

Good night!

BEHIND THE SCENES: SUMMER SHOOT

Tomorrow is my first day of senior year and i can't believe this will be my last summer as a high school student, at a school i've been attending since i was 4. These polaroids were taken at our shoot at the beginning of summer and it feels like eons away, though i always have a good time shooting with Nat and Bry. I'm already styling items for the next shoot, so stay tuned! and of course, as promised here's the BTS video filmed by Bryant and I. enjoy!

HEAT WAVE

wearing topshop cami, oneteaspoon jeans, converse/zara heels. Photos by Natalie Chyi

I'm hopeless at walking in heels, which explains the erratic photo-to-photo shoe changes. The real summer heat is gone and in its place is humidity, so naturally i'm looking forward to the few days of 'fall' which we have here when you can walk around for a bit and not drown in your sweat. Flashback to when we took these photos and everything felt sticky and yes, Bryant was wearing a leather jacket, slacks and a hat- pretty sure he's our more evolved kin.
What are you guys doing in the last days of summer?

ARCADE FIRE

wearing: top and backpack c/o American Apparel, jeans from MarketHQ, choies boots, cap from Steph, cheesy pose c/o inner 5 year old. Photos by Steph

Two more shots Steph took of me when we went to the arcade. Kind of overdosed on shooting things and losing at Mariokart plus finally winning one of those clamp machine toys equals a very smiley Zoe and a very generous Steph for letting me keep it. School is starting in a bit (despite my constant denial and self-comforting via. baked goods and gummies) and i wish i could just rewind back to my week in Tokyo so i could experience summer 2013 all over again- typhoons and back sweat included. So strange knowing that exactly a year from now, i'll be packing my things for university! Exciting things ahead.

KARMA POLICE

wearing: MarketHQ tee, choies skirt. Photos by Natalie

Are you dizzy yet? Move over Joan Rivers and fellow grammar Nazis, there's a new graphic-phrase-tee enforced criticism force in town. Vocational responsibilities aside, I myself am one of those people who uses karma as a comfort mechanism whenever i do something right (picks up a piece of rubbish in my own room = first prize in the lottery for sure), but discards the idea of karma whenever i do anything wrong- see phrases like "everything happens for a reason...but not that reason".

I don't think it should be taken too seriously; sometimes things just happen (now i start sounding like a parent in a disney channel original movie) and its ridiculous to think about whether or not it was really down to that one candy wrapper you were too lazy to pick up. But as a concept it's worth embracing; use it as an encouragement to do good; not only because it will bring you good luck but because sometimes when you don't pick up candy wrappers, you get ants in your room and maybe it is worth army-crawling two meters on the floor to save possible pesticide fees.

I don't even know why i'm really saying this as i'm no confucious and never picks anything up that is more than a meter away from my current dwellings but maybe graphic text tees are bringing out my inner zen. Oh and isn't this skirt pretty?

INSTANT GRATIFICATION

Some polaroids from last week. Am going to miss Steph so much when she leaves, but you guys will definitely see her again on this blog! And here's a playlist of a few songs i've been listening to. You can find the full tracklist here. I've also put it in the sidebar on the right so you guys can listen to it whenever you want!

Enjoy!

A DAY WITH STEPH

wearing: American Apparel chiffon button up, MarketHQ jeans, Choies boots, American Apparel back pack. Photos by me and Steph.

The other day i spent a day hanging out with Stephanie from High Stitched Voice. She is such a sweet and endearing person, and it's hard to believe we've never physically met before this, though we've been interacting online since the early days of this blog. We had a bit too much fun looking at stationary and magazines whilst overdosing on bubble tea, taking japanese photobooth strips and annoying gamers at the arcade whilst losing at Mariokart (well that was me). We took a lot more photos (and some video clips) but i'll show you guys later!

WEAR THE PANTS

wearing: top from MarketHQ, American Apparel pants, rucksack c/o Grafea, sunglasses c/o Zooq, nike shoes, topshop rings. Photos by my dad.

I realized the true absurdity of blogging when I had discovered my attachment -not towards an item of clothing or an accessory- but towards a wall. A freaking wall! I requested a detour from grocery shopping so we could shoot in front of this surface....weird huh? Of course, that doesn't mean i'm not attached to the banalities one would associate with fashion blogging; these shoes for example, are a size too small and i still manage to convince myself at least once a week for a full day that they'll "stretch".

But never before have i ever really associated myself with pants, in particular trousers. Definitely shorts, even jeans, though never actually a pleated pair of trousers have been consecutively worn that i've begun to relish the feeling of not wearing skinny jeans. Yes, i'm getting lazy- my most worn shoes are sneakers and i prefer a backpack to the regular purse any day (hands free for eating, simultaneous gadget holding and picture taking y'know?) but i've realized that's the way i like it.

And just so i can be a whole new level of Dr. Phil; things change. A year ago I detested jellybeans with every fibre of my being and today i discovered that they're pretty nice in a plastic colorful, quick sugar happy pills sort of way. I don't really know where i'm going with this but i guess recently i've been stuck with what my style is, and what i should be doing to dress like a ''blogger". Yet, I feel pretty good eating handfuls of jellybeans (both hands...backpacks win) in billowy (compared to skin-tight denim) pants in sneakers. This doesn't mean i'm 100% pleased with how i dress, nor do i even know what my style is and how to describe it. But it's transitioning and experimenting with it for a while will be pretty fun.

Ok, essay's over (I'm guessing no one even read up to here so it doesn't really matter what i say).

NO PARKING

wearing: shirt c/o Viparo, H&M skirt, zara shoes. Photos by Natalie

Default shirt and skirt combo, plus default bun now that my hair is going through that awkward length when you want to cut it shorter but grow it out at the same time. And i can't walk in these shoes for life but thought it'd be fun to wear something other than boots/converse for a change. I'm super happy because i'm going to be re-visiting Japan mid-August for an exciting shoot, i'll tell you guys more later! Now i'm going to change into my cat onesie and get ready for a Friends marathon with a tub of ice cream conveniently placed on my bedside table.
Good night!
