I don't usually bring my camera to the #HongKongFashionBloggers monthly Style Summits, but when i do i use up all my battery before the event (allowing for maybe one photo of very attractive people). And i swear i didn't write that as a reference to any memes, as now you are probably semi-accurately imagining me as one of those people who snort at every lame joke on tumblr (in our defense, people come up with uncannily relatable posts nowadays, resulting in me laughing at my screen by myself at strange hours). My new boots from choies have been seriously overworked within the first week of receiving them (allegory for my workload this school year? i think so), as have these black jeans that are the perfect length for any shoes.
These two weeks i've realized i've been wearing the same 2 pairs of black pants (jeans and jeggings) for the most part of my school outfits, so this is my sincere (albeit online) apology to anyone who goes to my school and is tired of seeing me in black bottoms- if anyone really cares at all.) Back to the style summit, i met too many lovely people that night and was super exhausted at the end of it (which turned out being 9 o'clock but it's hard socializing ok). I extend a 'shalom' to anyone who i was awkward around (a sadly large number but it's been 16 years and is only getting worse), nice meeting you all if you're reading this!
Have a good night/day guys, love you all.
xx

P.S. If you guys are wondering why i'm eating ice cream at night in the winter before a fashion event, it involved a sneaky last-minute endeavor into Lan Kwai Fong on this particularly chilly Wednesday night to use up one of my old (almost-expiring) coupons. Very rebellious i know.

FRIEND OF MINE

wearing: dress and vest from One Teaspoon, cardigan from T by Alexander Wang, boots from Asos (here). lace bralette from Hanky Panky c/o Shopbop (here). Photos by Natalie

After the creation of this blog which feels like a bit longer than forever (in a way having a blog unexpectedly distorts your sense of time if you mess up posting queues like me), i've gotten a myriad of questions all funneling down to the same question; "How would you describe your style". And i've finally come to the terms that after answering 'multi-faceted' to just about any interview that i don't really know. And i know that i make that sound like a bad thing, but it isn't and i've realized blogging is the most fun when i get to try out styles i wouldn't normally, as seen above when i went into a psycho-asian-gypsie-witch phase. And i hope that statement (underlined for emphasis of my likeness for underlining things...and emphasis i guess in general) helps you understand that this blog has evolved into less into a 2D documentary clickable wall and more of an experimentational musicartfashion random thing which i really enjoy and hope you do too.

Oh, and don't get startled by the strange psuedo-seriousness of this text, this week of madness at school is messing with me and i'm unable to attempt witty comments about the shoot/location/outfit/weather (insert sincere apology about not posting frequently but you guys get that too often...really sorry.) IB is starting to get to me in the way algae grows on rocks and makes them slippery and uncool to step on. (And now you pretend you didn't read that sentance). I'm just going to shut myself up in what will probably be the longest text post ever and say i hope you like the outfit! Now i'm going to prep myself for the weekend with some LOTR marathon action and cookie dough ice cream, have a good night!
**hugs**

P..S. After posting my last outfit i've received a substantial amount of comments questioning my knowledge that currently most of the world is experiencing a natural phenomenon called 'winter'. My answer to that is that i'm pretty weather confused but only to a certain extent, as these photos were taken weeks ago when Hong Kong was still dwindling between the 30's and 20's, so i'm just putting that out there for those who were starting to question my sanity in wearing sleeveless dresses in the winter (i was starting to do so myself).

BARELY LEGAL

wearing: T by Alexander Wang crop top c/o Shopbop (here), H&M skirt and beanie, socks c/o American Apparel (here), boots from Asos. Photos by Natalie

Lying on the floor and risking getting run over by cars is pretty much worth it if you get to wear an amalgamation of your favorite things- in my case, stripes, beanies, leather skirts, chelsea boots and dotted hosiery. Actually i think any activity would be multiple times more enjoyable that way, but that's coming from the girl who collects cacti and over-personalizes herself with characters in TV dramas. And i should really be practicing for my English presentation right now but I've set a sort of record not posting for 4 days (hah) so i thought this post was an arbitrary/necessary m&m encrusted 'sorry' cookie for you guys after a 96 hour absence. Not that i'd be one to assume you guys enjoy seeing photos of me loitering beside bus stations and causing a safety hazard (or that it makes up for it in any way) but sometimes it's nice to think so (for me).
Hope you like the photos!

LITT UP

wearing: gold cardigan c/o American Apparel, denim shirt c/o Olive Clothing, tapestry shorts and collar tips c/o Market HQ, boots from ASOS (now 40% off!). Photos by Natalie.

Suits puns aside (1 more day guys!), i've realized i've taken a strange liking to wearing things that make people feel uncomfortable. Especially in the busy little business-orientated hub of Hong Kong, high-waisted tapestry floral undies hotpants really create the desired effect. They are so short (i blame only me for ordering a size xs) and perfect for people who question the necessary factor of pants -my hand is raised- so i really have no complaints. The print is also sitting in the happy middle ground between floral and tapestry, narrowly missing (matrix-style) the benchmark of grandma purses and/or a 9 year old's floral onesie.
That reminds me, the market is really lacking in the onesie department for teens/adult (a notion brought about by the newest Delevingne-induced animal onesie phase), even walking past a cute babies clothing store makes me want to curl up into fetal position and demand one for myself, a 5 ft 8 16 year old teenage girl.
Ramblings aside [ok we get it Zoe, you don't like wearing pants and demand the mass manufacturing of adult onesies], I had a really great time shooting these photos with Natalie and i miss sunshine.

TEAM WOLF

wearing: beanie from asos (here), maxi skirt from river island (here), baseball tee c/o Market HQ (here), vintage sweater, boots from asos.

Yes, I shot with the fantastic Natalie again, as you can probably tell from the photos. I really missed shooting with her and Bryant, from our adventures around domestic neighborhoods to the funny yet awkward changing intervals when they would hold up a tablecloth for me to hide behind. Times like these i wish i had the superhuman knack mastered by only the best japanese female characters and disney channel animations alike, to be able to transform from outfit to outfit in a midst of glitter, purple backgrounds and exhilarating cartoon music (think: sailor moon).
But plenty of things make up for my evident lack of gracefulness, especially the joy of finding a mexican restaurant hidden in the streets nearby- kind of a Christopher Columbus moment for me. Think "oh my god, that says nacho. There are no mexican places in Hong Kong oh my god".

But mexican food aside, I can't wait to show you the rest of the photos! Watch this space.

MODERN ART

IMG_3701IMG_3699IMG_3700
wearing: top from zara, beanie from H&M, shorts c/o Christing C.

Normally i would save my most potato-esque clothing for the plane, but i opted for this outfit on the return flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong instead. These shorts are cool in that vacation-floral-surf print way that my dad has agreed with through his own pair of swim shorts in pretty much the same pattern. Also, they're fluttery and reminiscent of origami in a way that is hard not to like. And of course i felt a need to wear my beanie because....(i've stopped coming up with reasons). I snapped these pictures near the pool in Bangkok, but next up i'll be posting outfits from my most recent shoot with none other than Natalie! Stay tuned.

BANGKOK VIDEO DIARY

And here you go! The long awaited video diary, partially filmed by my Uncle Walter on his super pro camera, thus the changes in quality (thanks for the footage!). I told myself i would spare this post on the verbal diarrhea front, so i'll just let the video speak for itself. Enjoy!

Bangkok has great noodles. As well as mangoes (with or without sticky rice), lime sodas, malls, people, hotels, and night markets that make the traffic pretty much worth it- If you think about it traffic is a great anticipation heightener. I had a fair share of food courts, welcoming humid weather (never thought i'd say that), huge breakfasts at the W hotel, thai massages accompanied by afternoon naps, and intimate rides on the skytrain awkwardly pressed up against random strangers. If you're like me and you enjoy, well, food (with a side of shopping), Bangkok is the place for you. Although i do wish they would slow down a bit with building mall after mall (one of my favorite night market spots was demolished in the construction process), i'm guilty of spending way too much time in the food courts devouring delicious dessert toast with honey and ice cream. Had so much fun and can't wait until i can go back and discover more new favorites.
